Bharat Livestock Biometric Identification
In collaboration with Bharat Livestock EL & ICAR-CSWRI
Every animal has a face.
Now every face has an identity.
bNet-Sheep is an AI-driven livestock biometric identification platform that recognizes individual sheep by their facial features. Using multi-dimensional feature fusion with YOLO detection and GhostNet recognition, it achieves 99.98% accuracy — enabling non-invasive individual identification, health monitoring, breed diversity tracking, and phenotypic analysis at scale.

Sheep face recognition using proprietary AI models trained on 66K+ augmented images. Face detection via YOLO, identity recognition via GhostNet with cosine similarity matching.
4K video from DSLR or smartphone at 1-2m distance. Individual 180° coverage and flock-level batch recording across multiple sessions.
YOLO v8n/v8s/v8m models detect and crop sheep faces from video frames. 48K frames processed down to 33K clean, de-duplicated images via d-Hash.
GhostNet extracts multi-dimensional facial features. Training on 22K images augmented to 66K. Validation on 11K images augmented to 33K.
Cosine similarity and L2 norm matching. 99.90% average accuracy, 99.98% best validation accuracy. Precision: 0.9991, Recall: 0.9990.
bNet-Sheep doesn't just identify animals — it builds a complete digital identity for every sheep in the herd, enabling data-driven livestock management.
Recognize each sheep by facial features alone. No ear tags, no physical markers — completely non-invasive identification.
Track health status (healthy, sick, tumor) per animal. Detect signs of illness from behavioral and visual patterns over time.
Monitor breed diversity across herds, sectors, and villages. Support conservation programs for indigenous breeds.
Track reproductive states — nulliparous, fertilized, pregnant, postpartum — enabling better breeding management.
Batch-level health summaries, composition tracking, and sector-wise distribution analytics.
Track the same animal over months. Re-identification across sessions for growth and health monitoring.
Identify new, unseen sheep that were not part of the original training set — scalable to growing herds.
Works with DSLR cameras and smartphones. Indoor and outdoor, morning and evening sessions supported.
National breed conservation, livestock census, and animal welfare programs. Scalable from hundreds to millions of animals.
Phenotypic analysis, disease progression tracking, and clinical trial monitoring with non-invasive individual identification.
Automated herd management, health alerts, reproductive tracking, and yield optimization for commercial farms.
Tamper-proof animal identification for livestock insurance claims, supply chain traceability, and regulatory compliance.
Track indigenous breed diversity across regions. Monitor genetic diversity indicators and support conservation policies.
Sheep and goat identification for Gulf state agricultural programs, hajj livestock management, and dairy farm operations.
From research herds to commercial farms — bNet-Sheep brings biometric identity to livestock management.
